Autism Therapy for Adults
Late Diagnosis & Identity Support
Many autistic adults go through life feeling like something is different - but not always having the language for it. They may begin questioning it late in life after years of exhaustion, burnout, or feeling out of place in relationships, work, or daily life.
I work with adults who are exploring autism, whether formally diagnosed, self-identified, or still questioning.
You Might Relate to Things Like:
-
Feeling "different" without knowing why
-
Spending years learning how to fit in socially
-
Feeling exhausted after social interaction or daily demands
-
Sensory sensitivity or feeling easily overstimulated
-
Needing recovery time after basic tasks or socializing
-
Feeling misunderstood or like you're "too much" or "not enough"
-
Realizing later in life that autism may explain long-standing patterns
Late-Diagnosed Autism
For some, autism is not something that was identified in childhood. Instead, it may come after years of adapting, coping, and pushing through - until something shifts:
-
burnout
-
a new understanding of masking
-
learning about autism in adults
-
of finally feeling seen in neurodivergent descriptions
This can bring relief, grief, confusion, and deep self-reorganization.
All of that is welcome here.
How I Work
I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to support autistic adults in understanding their internal world with compassion.
This means we may focus on:
-
the parts of you that learned to adapt and mask
-
the parts that feel overwhelmed or shut down
-
the parts that hold exhaustion, sensitivity, or intensity
-
and the parts that are ready for more authenticity and ease
Rather than trying to change who you are, we work towards understanding your brain and natural way of being.
How Therapy Can Help
Neurodiversity-affirming, autism-focused therapy may help with:
-
Understanding your patterns without shame
-
Recovering from masking and burnout
-
Navigating identity after late-diagnosis or discovery
-
Building a life that fits your nervous system and brain style
-
Processing years of misunderstanding and misattunement
-
Developing self-trust and internal clarity

-
Recently diagnosed or self-identifying
-
Feeling exhausted from "keeping up" or fitting in
-

-
